This is a must go to place for fish lovers ! Service and food excellent, attentive waiting staff. The hake, as recommended, was perfect, my friend had the Seafood Stack/pie which had her waxing lyrical about how amazing it was ! Sharing deserts were, frankly, fabulous (all 5 !). Any faults ? No, but my birthday info on the Open Table booking was not mentioned - it would have been nice for it to have been, to make it personal.

14/4/24-Sunday. My husband gave me a surprised dinner at this lovely restaurant. Which is one of the top-notch, high-end exquisite meals. The food and presentation of the food are superb and delicious. The service given by David was excellent & professional. The embient of the restaurant is lovely, romantic and relaxed. We will be back again. Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Came here with friends upon their recommendation for a celebratory meal. A warm greeting from David, who served us fizz in the downstairs bar while we studied the menu. The menu is predominantly fish & seafood, which all four of us went for. We followed our drinks upstairs to one of the finely appointed dining rooms. Service was professional, attentive, yet friendly throughout. All courses were superb, with more generous portion sizes than I was expecting. The mini desserts were an unexpected bonus. Although this is a relatively expensive restaurant for the area, I thought that the markup on wine was very reasonable. A faultless experience throughout.

Went for dinner for our anniversary. Fish was lovely and the staff are fantastic. The chips and vegetables were a bit lacklustre. I thought it was overpriced compared to other restaurants offering the same quality of food. No parking either had to pay in the local pay and display and walk back to car in pitch black dark.

We celebrated my father's 90th birthday here in early July. The staff and service are exceptional and we were really well looked after. The food was beautifully presented with all the extras of a fine dining restaurant. The atmosphere is exclusive with different dining areas including one with an open kitchen. We would go again.

My first meal at Estbek House was 17 years ago. I'd taken my mum and dad as we enjoyed our first time in Whitby. I've since returned with my partner, and the food and service are outstanding each time we visit. Being Gluten Free can limit your menu choices, but I was spoilt for choice, even when it came to dessert. We appreciate the hard work and dedication it takes to keep the standards high at Estbek House, and David, Tim and their team achieve this on every level. My parents are no longer with us, but each time we visit I remember our night together and hear their laughter, so Estbek House will always have a special place in my heart.

Nice place for lunch and a pint. Decent vegetarian options. Next to a busy road, but not too noisy.

Unbeatable fish restaurant in the beautiful location of Sandsend just outside Whitby. The owners David & Tim are fabulous hosts and the fish pie is truly delicious and must try dish 😋 The deserts are also a work of art by Tim and highly recommended. 🧁 Can’t wait to return for our next visit. 👋

Only stayed one night, wish we could have stayed longer. An incredibly lovely boutique hotel, amazing food and wine list. More importantly warm and welcoming friendly staff. We loved it. Can’t wait to come back

A review of the restaurant only. Upon entering you are sat in a small bar area where your orders are taken - I think going straight up to the restaurant would be better. For the money we found the main course to be average. The restaurant area decor is pleasant but not particularly high end. The deserts are a big let down. They serve miniature pots of around 10 different types of miniature deserts and recommend 2 or 3 per person. They are all pre made and it lacks presentation as the pots are simply put on a plate then served to the customer. The positives are that the service is very friendly and attentive

Abysmal attitude from the chef/owner. Maybe he should stay in the kitchen and learn to cook properly, leave front of house and communication to someone who knows how to treat customers with at least a little respect.

This is one for "when can I come back again list". Beautiful place, lovely people and exceptional food. This is a little gem of a place that you come mainly for the food and the staff. Try not to think of it as a hotel as the rooms are a bit on the small side (but then again you are in a period house) as a restaurant with rooms, something you will understand after you have tackled their fantastic wine list! Breakfast should also be mentioned as the "full english" was described by my partner as the best she has ever had and the home cured hot smoked salmon breakfast I had was wonderful, complimented by homemade jams and marmalades. The staff really make your stay special and quite a unique experience.
